Type Locality and Naming

Along the Kokcha River, east of the Sultanuizdag Mountains, South Pre-Aral. S.S. Shul'ts (Jr.), 1967 (509, p. 12). Stratotype not specified. The name has been preempted.

Synonym: Kokchin Suite, Кокчинская св.


Lithology and Thickness

Grayish-purple sandstones, siltstone (aleurolites), feldspar-quartz, polymictic, with calcareous, clayey, and sericite-siliceous matrix, slate-like siliceous shales, clayey argillites. Thickness up to 150 m.

Lower contact

Unconformably overlies the Paleozoic

Upper contact

It is overlain by the Sultanbobin Fm

Regional extent

Correlated with the lower part of the Chashkakul Gr (Northern Aral Region) (446).
